If you've heard the word "CrossFit" and pictured intense adults doing impossibly heavy lifts, you're not alone. But CrossFit for kids? It looks completely different — and the results can be extraordinary.
Here's what you actually need to know.
CrossFit Kids isn't a scaled-down version of adult CrossFit. It's a methodology designed specifically for children, built around age-appropriate movement, fun, and the development of foundational athletic skills.
For younger kids (roughly ages 3–8), classes look more like structured play — learning to jump, balance, throw, and move with purpose. For older kids (9–15), programming becomes more complex, introducing fundamental fitness concepts in a way that builds confidence and capability.
The through-line at every age? Keep it fun, keep it safe, and make sure every kid leaves feeling good about themselves.
At CrossFit Port Clinton, our CrossFit Youth Program is built around three core values:
1. Teamwork — Kids work alongside each other, cheer each other on, and learn what it means to be a good teammate. These social skills matter far beyond the gym.
2. Effort — We celebrate effort, not just outcomes. A kid who tries hard and finishes last is just as celebrated as the one who finishes first. This mindset is transformative.
3. Hard work — We believe in introducing kids to the honest truth that hard things feel good when you do them anyway. This is a lesson that pays dividends for life.
A typical CrossFit Youth class at CrossFit Port Clinton looks something like this:
Classes run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, giving kids a consistent routine without overwhelming their schedules.
Our program is designed for kids ages 3–15. You don't need to have any athletic background. You don't need to be in great shape. You just need to be ready to show up and try.
If your child thrives with structure, loves to be active, and would benefit from being part of a team — this is for them.
Our 8-week session starts June 8th. Spots are limited and registration is open now.
